Port Augusta, on the west side of the gulf of the Eyre Peninsula, is a small city of just under 15,000 inhabitants in South Australia. It is situated some 50 miles North of Whyalla and can be approached via the Lincoln Highway. It first hosted race meetings in 1881, boasting wonderful views to wow racegoers during downtimes between races, and continues to offer a varied programme on its unique sand based track, with racing administered by Port Augusta Racing Club.
